STATION FOR THE OBSERVATORIES OF THE CRITICAL ZONE APPLICATIONS AND RESEARCH (OZCAR)
Presentation
The EroRun station was set up within the Observatoire des Sciences de l’Univers de La Réunion (OSU-Réunion) to carry out quantitative observations dedicated to all hydrological processes within a torrential watershed on the island of La Réunion.
The watershed associated with Erorun is a natural laboratory that integrates all processes within the various compartments of the hydrosystem (river, slopes, forest, soil and subsoil).
EroRun was defined on the basis of three major scientific questions:
- What are the surface and subsurface flow conditions of shield volcanoes?
- What is the role and future of interactions between the tropical biosphere and atmosphere in the erosion vs. weathering competition?
- What impact do catastrophic events have on the dynamics of the critical zone?
