STATION FOR THE OBSERVATORIES OF THE CRITICAL ZONE APPLICATIONS AND RESEARCH (OZCAR)
Research infrastructures and SNO
The Erorun observatory is part of the OZCAR (Observatoire de la Zone Critique Application Recherche) national research infrastructure.
Critical Zone Observatory Application Research
OZCAR is a national research infrastructure dedicated to observing and studying the critical zone, the thin film on the Earth’s surface between the unaltered rocks of the lithosphere and the lower layers of the atmosphere, where water, energy and matter are transferred, and where water, soil, rocks and living organisms interact. This critical zone covers the habitable zone of continents, from high relief to coastal regions.
OZCAR brings together instrumented sites in France and abroad, based on long-term observations of river and deep-sea water, ice, soil, wetlands and their biodiversity. OZCAR is a community platform that focuses on the state and future of water and soil resources from an integrated, long-term scientific perspective, bringing together all disciplines.
The OZCAR research infrastructure comprises over 60 highly instrumented sites for long-term measurements of biological, chemical and physical parameters of groundwater, rivers, glaciers, soils and wetlands in France and overseas territories such as the tropical Caribbean and Reunion Island.
